Here is a pre operative checklist that needs to be completed at least one week prior to the surgery date or we reserve the right to cancel your procedure.
Fill all prescriptions at least week in advance of the surgery. Take as instructed.
Vitamin K (mephyton) needs to be started four days before your surgery.
Pre-arrange transportation to and from the office for the day of the surgery.
You will also need someone to stay with you for at least 12 hours after the procedure to help with the initial dressing changes or until you feel comfortable.
Purchase “Betadine” or “Hibiclens” to wash your body with on the morning of surgery and buy absorbent, feminine pads for dressing changes to absorb the drainage from your incision sites.
Cease taking any aspirin, aspirin products, ibuprofen or anti-inflammatory drugs (Motrin, Advil, Nuprin, etc.) two weeks before surgery. No Vitamin E products should be consumed for two weeks before surgery. No alcohol consumption for ten days before surgery (alcohol increases bleeding). No smoking for one week before and two weeks after surgery (smoking delays healing time).
You will be provided a list of medications, please notify us if you are taking any of the listed meds. Certain medications will need to be discontinued before the surgery.
